You will need:

Wallpaper, scissors, glue gun, tape, hole punch pliers, double-sided adhesive tape, string, wooden craft balls / drilled half hole and felt-tip pens & toothpicks.

Pointy party hats

1. Trace a circle on the back of the wallpaper (I drew around a 27 cm dinner plate).
Cut out the circle and then halve it so you have two identical semicircles. You’ll now be folding these to make the hats.

2. On each piece, join the two outer points to create a cone, adjusting it until you have the shape you want. Use a glue gun or tape to secure it in place.

3. Snip off the tips of the hats and glue a pompom to the top of the hat.

4. To decorate the hat brim, cut out a long band the length of the hat’s circumference and about 2 cm in height. Make small snips about 1 cm into the band down its long edge, and then stick it onto the hat using a glue gun.

5. Make two small holes at the base of the hat and insert string as under-chin ties to keep the hat in place.

Cupcake decorations

  1. Follow the same instructions as above, but using a small tumbler to draw around and then cut your circle into 4 equal parts.

  2. Pop your tiny pointy party hats on wooden craft balls (I used craft balls 2cm in diameter), draw on a funny face and use a glue gun to secure a toothpick in the drilled hole of the ball.

  3. Cut out four circles, and glue them together, wrong sides facing, make a hole and slide onto the toothpick.

Party favour bags

  1. Cut out 20 x 20 cm squares. Fold 2 sides into the centre so one side overlaps the other and secure with tape or a glue gun.

  2. To secure the base of the bag, fold one edge up by about 4 cm. Continue folding in the edges as illustrated and secure with tape.

  3. Undo the base and fill with a party favour, then fold over again, punch two holes and secure with a length of string.

Cake stand decor and wall decor

  1. Trace around a wavy shape you like or cut one free hand. Cut the wallpaper along its rolled edge, so it turns in easily. For the cake stand, I cut two strips of wallpaper long enough to overlap. Attach the decoration to the cake stand using a glue gun and put up the wall decor using double-sided tape.
